Whether Natasha Hayes uses the word or not, she has been cheating on her husband. When you get to the "My GOD, what have you done to me" stage of it, it's too late. Just because a penis and a vagina haven't gotten involved, doesn't mean it's not an affair. Newer version makes more sense. I bet she describes a very common situation. And yes, it is cheating, in other words a sexual relationship begun without the existing one's consent. Nice to know men and women are much the same, though. And I also agree sending intimate pictures is gross. It's pretty much the sordid climax of the whole thing, and she is right, it is winding down because they both got enough of what they needed, the next stages offering increasingly lower benefit/cost ratios. Now they will be embarrassed, and a year from now oddly resentful.
It's emotional infidelity, in some ways more hurtful (if discovered) than getting drunk on a business trip and sleeping with some stranger that you don't care about and never want to see again. These two are thinking about each other all day long. At least, that's how I think of it; some people would say only physical contact counts as "real cheating."
