How to Write a Message to Someone On An Online Dating Site

Gentlemen, in case you were wondering, this is a pretty good way to get a lady's attention:

Missed connections...

because we didn't meet whimsically on the subway or browsing in The Strand.

I took a look at your profile and you seemed like the type of woman I would want to strike up a conversation with, if we were introduced at a social function. Hope you'll take a moment to look at mine and write back, even if it's just to say you're not interested.

I guess I'll say a little about myself. I’m a ‘glass half-full’ kinda guy with a pragmatic approach to life but perhaps a little *jaded* over the whole dating scene. It's like this man and his son I rode an elevator with the other day. The boy had been banging his head (not too hard though) against the wall. The father watched him for a few seconds and said: "I know why you do that... because it feels good when you stop, right?"

Sometimes dating feels like hitting your head against the wall just waiting for the right person to come along so you can stop. And yet I continue to be hopeful.

Make sense? No? Want to compare philosophies?
