5 Down, 45 to Go!

Maine legalized gay marriage today.

YAY!

Anyone who knows me is well aware that I think marriage is a crock, but who am I to say that any couple shouldn't be legally allowed to participate in said crock just because they have the same parts?

In related news, Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher, Republican poster boy, said this when asked about gay marriage in an interview the other day:

"I've had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children."

Marriage is a crock. The more I find out about people, the more I discover that most marriages are failing anyway. There has to be a better way to bring up kids than in this bullshit pretense. But, sure, let the gays have at it. I'm all for that. Why shouldn't they be as miserable as the rest of us? Fair is fair.

Same here. When allowed a chance peek behind the curtain, it seems everyone my age who's married is either somewhere on the continuum between resignation and misery, deep in a not-first marriage and determined to make the fairytale real this one time, or impossible to believe.

And marriage wasn't always like this but now that it's not about property contracts and enslaving the breeding half of the species, we need to go back to those ancient pagan days during which we evolved into the critters we are for whom Victorian ideals really don't work.

Joe the P said that? What does he mean by friends? I suspect these alleged homosexual friends of his really don't return the favored status. "Joe? Yeah, I know him. He thinks I'm a pedophile. Fuck him."

I am absolutely opposed to gay marriage. Why should they have all the fun?
