A Pathetic Tribute

I don't even know how to write this.

My sister's husband died suddenly last week. They were together for 13 years, and if any couple ever personified those "happy loving couples" who make it look so easy, it was them.

Technically, he wasn't her husband. They didn't have the formal church thing, or a marriage certificate. But if living day in and day out with someone and simply loving each other counts for anything, they had a better marriage than most legal ones that I know.

He was a beautiful man, from the inside out. He was so good-looking it took your breath away, and so sweet-natured and funny that you forgot how good-looking he was.

And most of all, he knew how to love.

Godspeed, Mark.

This tribute was far from pathetic. These were very kind words from you. Good to know people like him exist in the world. I hope people feel inspired by your experience of him. I didn't know him, but just knowing that you saw something so loving in him makes me feel appreciation for you and for his life.

Big hug
